Polarity Reversal During Overdischarge

Polarity Reversal During Overdischarge
  • Cells driven into overdischarge experience polarity reversal.
  • Extended overdischarge can result in elevated cell pressure and opening of the safety vent within the cell.
  • To minimize occurrence of polarity reversal, the cells in DURACELL rechargeable batteries have capacities that are "matched" to each other. This prevents overdischarge of the lowest capacity cell in the series.
