CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP

CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP

Corporate Citizenship

We, as a brand, along with Duracell employees around the world, believe in the power and importance of giving back. Many of our employees offer their time to causes in which they believe. Local teams of Duracell employees called Employee Advisory Groups decide how available resources could best be used to help out local communities. In fact, you’ll find our employees mentoring students at schools and taking part in walk-a-thons, blood drives, and various other community projects.

We also have funded many large-scale projects that impact the world. Such projects include hospital emergency care units, rehabilitation programs, educational programs, housing/urban development programs, and environmental sustainability. Below are some recent examples.

MORE POWER TO PROTECT® CITIES AT RISK

In September of 2009, we joined forces with Paige Hemmis, star of ABC Network's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to launch the More Power to Protect program, pledging more than 10 million hours of power in the form of batteries, flashlights, and power chargers to communities particularly vulnerable to storms and severe weather.

POWER A SMILE® FOR MATTEL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

For the past several years, we have partnered with Mattel and donated truckloads of batteries for the toys being delivered to Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA and other children's hospitals across the country.

THE CALL2RECYCLE PROGRAM

We proudly demonstrate our commitment to the preservation of our environment by funding Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation's Call2Recycle, a free battery- and cell phone-recycling program. Projects include the environmentally sound collection and recycling of rechargeable batteries and a nationwide public education program about rechargeable battery recycling.

“CHANGE YOUR CLOCK, CHANGE YOUR SMOKE ALARM BATTERY®” FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIA’S FIRE SERVICES

South Australia fire services were witnessing devastation and loss from household fires, despite the existence and presence of smoke alarms. Research discovered this was due to expired or missing batteries in the smoke alarms. We sponsored a campaign, first developed in 2002, with the theme, “Change your clock, change your smoke alarm battery.” It has run annually since then, as have similar programs in Canada and in the five boroughs of New York City (run through the FDNY).
